ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A cold front will push through our area overnight, bringing the risk for a few showers. Temperatures will drop down into the upper 40s. The kids will need a jacket or hoodie on their way to school on Monday morning. We will see the slight risk for a few showers in the first half of Monday but, then drier air will move in bringing an increase in sunshine. It will also be windy all day, which will make it feel even cooler with sustained winds at 15-25 mph from the northwest and gusts up to 30 mph. We will see high temperatures top out below average at 60°.
With a clear sky around on Monday night and a cold air mass there is a good chance that we see our first frost for inland communities as temperatures away from the lake will drop into the low to mid 30s, closer to the lake the lows should bottom out in the upper 30s. We haven’t dropped below 40° since May 12th. We are also losing daylight as we move closer to the winter equinox. Sunrise on Monday will be 7:13am and sunset will be 6:45pm.
If you’re not quite ready for frost and snow showers, don’t worry. We will see a nice warm up with temperatures climbing back into the mid to upper 60s and perhaps even the mid 70s by the weekend. There’s also plenty of sunshine in our 10-day forecast.
