The Wildcats had a chance to win in regulation, but they were unable to get one final snap off before the clock expired. On the first drive of overtime, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers connected with tight end Maurice Brown II on a five-yard pass to take the 34-27 lead.

However, Minchey responded with a touchdown pass of his own to Henry Boyer to cut it to 34-33. Stein has been all about changing the culture in Lexington, and he showed that by going for two. Minchey connected with Willie Rodriguez for the 2-point conversion, giving the Wildcats the victory.
Minchey finished the day 28-of-41 for 272 yards and three touchdowns. Sellers had a huge game for the Gamecocks, throwing 226 yards while rushing for another 147 yards and scoring two total touchdowns.
