2026 Homecoming Queen candidates announced

The 2026 Homecoming Queen candidates were announced Sept. 26 on the UA Homecoming website. Each candidate is running on a philanthropic platform, and the official campaign period begins Oct. 11 at 7 a.m. 

The candidates are as follows:

    Kameron Baba is a senior from Gadsden, Alabama, majoring in marketing. She is supporting wellness on campus through the Camellia Center, the University’s on-campus center that provides education, outreach and therapy services to survivors of interpersonal violence.

    Rylie Dewley is a senior from Grand Blanc, Michigan double majoring in criminal justice and political science. She is supporting the American Heart Association, and currently serves as the founding president of the Heart Club. 

    Alex Jorns is a junior from Chalmette, Louisiana majoring in mathematics. She is supporting Girls Who Code to “provide materials for free coding workshops, hands-on activities and our annual community hackathon.”

    Savannah Strong is a senior from Lincoln, Alabama majoring in philosophy with a concentration in jurisprudence. She is supporting the Rising Tide 2.0 initiative in the Statewide Literacy Center to connect Tuscaloosa County Schools students and University of Alabama students. 

    Emie Vandiver is a senior from Town Creek, Alabama majoring in biology. She is supporting inclusion through the UA Rise Center, an on-campus preschool that gives opportunities to both traditional learners and special education students. 

    Each candidate’s philanthropic platform will impact a campus organization through the Endowed Impact Fund, established by Cathy Young and Mike Buhai in honor of their daughter Katie Buhai, who was UA’s Homecoming Queen in 2018. 

    Campaign statements for each candidate are listed on the Homecoming website, with voting on Oct. 20 and the official announcement of Homecoming Queen on Oct. 23 at the Homecoming pep rally and bonfire.
