NCSA Spring Championships qualifier Olivia Johnson will head north to Connecticut next fall, as she has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Sacred Heart University beginning in the fall of 2027.
“I am excited to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Sacred Heart University! I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to compete at the D1 level. Thank you to my family, especially my parents, for all they have given me. Thank you to Coach Mike, JJ, and Heather on H2A for helping me become the swimmer I am today. Thank you Coach John and Coach Brendan SHU Swim and Dive for this opportunity. Most importantly thank you God for the strength You have given me. GO PIOS!! ”
The South Carolina native is a senior at Hilton Head Island High School, where she has competed for the school’s varsity swimming and diving team since her freshman year. She also currently trains year-round with Hilton Head Aquatics and primarily specializes in free and fly.
Johnson turned in a series of strong performances at the 2025 SCSC Annual Blizzard Blast Invite in December. She won the 200 free (1:53.45), 500 free (5:11.18) and 1000 free (10:42.76) and placed 2nd in the 100 free (53.48), 5th in the 50 free (24.92 – PB), 10th in the 100 fly (1:02.13) and 23rd in the 200 back (2:22.63).
Johnson posted two more personal best times even at the 2026 H2A Last Chance Meet a month later. She prevailed in the 200 free (1:56.69), 500 free (5:15.44), 1000 free (10:43.23) and 200 IM (2:16.96), and she took 2nd in the 200 fly (2:18.33 – PB), 50 free (25.19) and 100 free (55.08) and 3rd in the 100 fly (1:00.18 – PB).
At the 2026 NCSA Spring Championships in March, Johnson contested the 50 free (25.26), 200 free (1:56.73) and 100 fly (59.55 – PB). Some of her top times still stand from the 2025 championship, including in the 100 free (53.43) and 200 free (1:52.67).
Best Times SCY:
100 free – 53.43 200 free – 1:52.67 500 free – 5:08.36 1000 free – 10:40.94 100 fly – 59.55 200 fly – 2:18.33A Division I Mid-Major program, Sacred Heart competes in the Metro Conference (formerly Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), with the women’s team placing 4th at last season’s conference championships. Based on the results from the 2026 MAAC Championships, Johnson would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 200 free, the ‘B’ final in the 200 free and the ‘C’ final in the 100 free, putting her in a strong position to score some points right from the start.
Joining Johnson in Sacred Heart’s class of 2031 will be Hayden Gill, Hadley D’Agostino and Grace Alger, who should all make for strong training partners over their four years together.
