Junior Nationals qualifier Kevin Foley has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the Air Force Academy beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I’m incredibly excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the United States Air Force Academy! I want to thank my parents and my entire family for always believing in me, supporting me, and making countless sacrifices throughout my swimming journey. I wouldn’t be here without you. A huge thank you to my coaches, Mike Chasson and Sam Iida for their mentorship and pushing me to become the swimmer and person I am today. Thank you to Coach Clayton and Coach Finch for this incredible opportunity and support during this recruiting process. I’m extremely excited to join the Falcon family. Go Falcons!
A senior at Gilbert High School in Gilbert, Arizona, Foley has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with Gold Medal Swim Club, where he primarily specializes in distance freestyle.
Foley is coming off a breakthrough 2025-26 season in which he dropped nearly 30 seconds in the 1650 free, just over six seconds in the 500 free, and about two and a half seconds in the 200 free. He clocked his current 1650 PB of 15:37.52 at the CA RMDA Legends of Coaching Meet in early November, then made his Winter Juniors – West debut in December, where he took 50th in the 1650 free (15:50.95), 54th in the 500 free (4:29.89 – PB), and 105th in the 200 free (1:42.29) and split 1:42.57 on Gold Medal Swim Club’s fourth-place 800 free relay.
On the high school scene, Foley finished fifth in the 200 free (1:41.73) and 500 free (4:32.46) at the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Division I State Championships, both then-PBs. It was his third career ‘A’ final appearance, following a 10th-place finish in the 500 free as a sophomore.

Foley’s current lifetime bests in the 200, 500, and 1650 free would have scored in the ‘B’ final range, positioning him to contribute right away, with two full seasons of training still ahead before he lines up at his first conference meet.
Foley joins Sam Fields, Jacob Lee, Drew Hopkins, Dylan Patterson, John Prudhomme, and Charlie Wang in committing to Air Force’s class of 2031 so far.
