(L-R) Katie Schultz and Charlotte Schultz on ‘The Amazing Race 39’Sonja Flemming/CBS
Sisters Katie and Charlotte Schultz touted in tonight’s episode that, despite how they look, they grew up doing hard manual labor on the family farm. And, ironically, it was produce that would potentially do them in. The two fell behind quickly in Spain after struggling to find a clue within a pile of tomatoes. And, in their rush to make up time, they made a critical error, taking the wrong train seven stops in the opposite direction. The sisters tried valiantly to catch up to the pack, but their difficulty to identify Spanish icons made sure their race was history.
Which teams finished at the top of The Amazing Race 39 tonight?
While Ali Krieger and Joanna Lohman were happy to survive the first leg, they were clearly dissatisfied with finishing so far in the back of the pack. This time, they got some redemption, crushing tomatoes and charcuterie alike to get a first-place finish. Married parents Michelle Patterson and Matthew Patterson finished in second, thanks to the latter’s childhood knowledge of history. And siblings Cody Langlois and Jaime Tribo finished out the top in third, using their Express Pass to bypass the Detour to avoid waiting at a station.
Which teams finished at the bottom of The Amazing Race 39 tonight?
Doug Matter and Dylan Matter bond over hiking, and the grandfather/grandson team certainly got their steps in wandering lost around the streets of Madrid. Despite Dylan’s insistence that they were doomed, they were able to scrape by in tenth place. And, after leaving the Roadblock near the top, Dafina Dunmore and Saran Dunmore fell all the way down to the bottom when they struggled on the Detour. After over an hour at the museum, they were able to escape elimination.
