Canada on Thursday urged citizens to avoid all travel toIraq as it updated travel guidance for the Middle East amid continued regionalsecurity concerns.
The government placed Iraq at its highest travel-risk level,alongside Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Yemen.
Canada separately advised against non-essential travel toBahrain, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United ArabEmirates.
Ottawa said the regional security situation remainedvolatile following recent military activity and warned that conditions coulddeteriorate quickly, potentially limiting Canadians’ ability to leave and thegovernment’s capacity to provide assistance.
