Months before their 30th wedding anniversary, iconic Hollywood couple Harry Hamlin, 74, and Lisa Rinna, 63, will star on Broadway together this holiday season.
On Thursday, October 1, they were among the star-studded cast announced for a limited holiday production of It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks.
According to BroadwayWorld, beloved Broadway veteran Andrew Rannells will star as George Bailey opposite two-time Tony nominee Megan Hilty as his wife, Mary Bailey. Tituss Burgess will play Clarence (and others).
View this post on InstagramHamlin, a ’80s heartthrob best known for his roles in Clash of the Titans and the TV drama L.A. Law, will take on the role of villainous Mr. Potter, while Rinna — who first rose to fame on Days of Our Lives — will play Violet (and others).
This won’t be the first time Hamlin and Rinna have worked together, though. In 2001, they played a married couple in the Lifetime movie Sex, Lies & Obsession and in 2007, they co-starred in the Broadway production of Chicago. They also had a short-lived 2010 reality show, Harry Loves Lisa, before Rinna become an iconic cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from 2014 to 2022.
The show emulates a 1940s radio broadcast, “high above New York City at Christmastime, where a company of actors has gathered to perform one of the most beloved holiday stories ever told,” per BroadwayWorld. Just like the beloved 1946 film It’s A Wonderful Life, the play is based on a 1943 short story called The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern.
Now celebrating its 30th year, It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play first premiered in Connecticut in 1996, and has become a holiday staple at theaters across the country, but this is its first-ever Broadway run.
Previews begin November 4 at the Broadhurst Theatre, but the official Opening Night is slated for Wednesday, November 18. The show will run for nine weeks only, through Sunday, January 3. Tickets are available via Telecharge.
