Men's Soccer: UCSB 1, Sacramento State 1: The Gauchos outshot Sacramento State 23-11 including 10-5 on shots on goal but could only muster a tie in the Big West opener for both teams.

    Steinar Bjornsson converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute to give UCSB a 1-0 lead heading into halftime, The Gauchos missed several opportunities throughout the game to score goals.

    "We had 23 shots tonight and the only goal we scored was the PK," said a frustrated UCSB head coach Tim Vom Steeg.
