Head of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Moustafa Sheikhoun held talks on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the authority’s headquarters in the New Capital with US Embassy in Cairo Deputy Chief of Mission Eric Gaudiosi and his accompanying delegation on ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.
According to a statement issued by SCZONE on Wednesday, the meeting reviewed investment opportunities available within the zone and ways to expand cooperation with the US business community.
The discussions covered several potential areas of cooperation, including water desalination, solar and renewable energy, pharmaceutical industries, information technology, training centers, as well as the development of ports and logistics zones.
Sheikhoun said SCZONE’s integrated assets, including industrial zones, ports and logistics areas, offer diverse investment opportunities for US companies.
He underscored the authority’s keenness to benefit from advanced expertise and technologies in areas of mutual interest, while developing services and logistics facilities to support the establishment of high-quality projects within the zone.
He added that the authority seeks to translate cooperation with the US business community into practical initiatives based on specific investment opportunities and the requirements of individual sectors.He also stressed the importance of facilitating procedures and expediting their completion to improve the investment climate and encourage the establishment of new projects within SCZONE.
For his part, Gaudiosi affirmed the US side’s interest in strengthening economic and investment cooperation with SCZONE, stressing the importance of continued dialogue and the exchange of views on available opportunities in a manner that supports the expansion of partnership between the two sides.
He said the meeting represented an important step toward strengthening communication and coordination, adding that the US side is keen to explore further areas of cooperation that serve mutual interests and contribute to increasing US investment in the zone.
