UNC controlled possession for much of the game and held West Florida to just two shots on target in a 2-0 win at Dorrance Field Wednesday night. It marked the first time this season the Tar Heels had won consecutive matches.

Freshman Faraji Ramani opened the scoring for UNC in the 33rd minute. Ramani started a breakaway when he poked the ball away from a West Florida defender, where it was retrieved by teammate Joschi Schelb. Schelb blazed toward the Argonaut net before slipping the ball past the West Florida keeper and onto the foot of Ramani, who tapped it in for his first collegiate goal.
Schelb did the job himself in the second half, pouncing on a loose ball in the penalty area and rocketing it into the net. It was the fourth goal in as many matches for Schelb, who leads all Tar Heels with seven this season.
The Ramani and Schelb goals were all part of a 17-shot evening for UNC — the fourth straight match in which the Tar Heels have fired at least that many attempts. West Florida’s two shots on goal are also the second-fewest allowed in a match by Carolina this season.
UNC is now 4-2-3 overall this season and 0-1-2 in ACC competition. The Tar Heels will return to league play when they visit Boston College Saturday at 3 p.m.
