SWEDEN, N.Y. — Two men were arrested on Tuesday stemming from an unlicensed cannabis sales investigation at Brockport Convenience on Lake Road South in the Town of Sweden.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Office of Cannabis Management investigated, arresting Ali S. Al Fanini, 32, and Jalal Mohomed Alawi Hussein, 24, both from Brockport.
The sheriff’s office said it executed search warrants, both for the business and at a South Street apartment in Brockport where the employees were staying. Deputies say the search at the convenience store found several pounds of cannabis and various cannabis-related products and money. The search at the apartment found additional money and keys to a storage closet at a shopping plaza where Brockport Convenience is located, the sheriff’s office said. Additionally, deputies say that more cannabis-related items were recovered from the storage area.
Al Fanini was arrested at the apartment, and Alawi Hussein was arrested after deputies found him driving on West Ridge Road.
Both men were given criminal possession of cannabis charges in the third degree, and unlawful sale of cannabis charges. Both were given appearance tickets and released.
