ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the closure deadline for Waterview Heights to Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Right now there are 13 residents at the facility who still have nowhere to go.

The CMS withdrew its contract with the nursing home because of its history of severe abuse and neglect. But because Waterview is having trouble finding facilities to take all its residents, CMS will continue to make Medicare and Medicaid payments for another two weeks.
