MACEDON, N.Y. — A New York State Comptroller report says the Macedon Town Board didn’t properly oversee and manage the finances for the town’s ambulance service.
The audit found that the board failed to ensure accurate billing and collection of ambulance service charges totaling nearly $236,000. According to the report, this led to billing write-offs totaling $17,320 that weren’t approved by the board and possible mileage billing errors totaling $575.
The report also says town officials didn’t maintain an up-to-date accounting for ambulance service financial transactions or maintain written ambulance service inventory records. According to the report, officials failed to ensure that all ambulance services were billed and all charges were collected and reconciled.
