NCAA Division II Champion Justice Beard has announced she will transfer to Penn State for her graduate season beginning in fall 2027. Beard is currently a senior at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL).
“I’m thrilled to announce that I will be continue my swimming career while pursuing my masters at Pennsylvania State University. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me up to this point, especially Coach Tony, Coach Kale, and the entirety of UMSL swimming. It isn’t good bye, it’s see ya later. A huge thanks to Coach Hollie, Coach Mike, Coach Jackson, and the rest of the Penn state coaching staff for granting me this opportunity and I can’t wait to call Happy Valley home. WE ARE #PENNSTATE”
Beard finished her junior season this past spring and swam to three Division II NCAA titles. She swam to a 4:48.09 in the 500 free, a 9:45.71 1000 free, and a 16:24.18 1650 free. All three swims were lifetime bests. She also finaled in the 200 free with a 1:51.16 for 16th.
As a sophomore in 2025, she made the top eight in all three events as well. She was 2nd in the 1650 free (16:24.86), 4th in the 1000 free (9:55.52), and 5th in the 500 free (4:50.40).
Beard’s Best SCY Times Are:
500 free: 4:48.09 1000 free: 9:45.71 1650 free: 16:24.18The Penn State women finished 13th out of 14 teams at the 2026 Big Ten Championships with 216 points. Margaret Markvardt led the team with 33 individual points including ‘B’ final appearances in the 100 back and 100 fly.
Based on her best times, Beard is a strong addition to the team’s distance group. Her best time in the 1650 free would have been 12th at Big Tens while her 500 free would have made the Big Ten ‘C’ final. Morgan Moore was the team’s highest finisher in the 1650 free this past season with a 16:30.44 for 13th.
