After a thrilling summer that saw Ben Shelton make a run to the US Open men’s final, the tennis superstar candidly admitted that making time to nourish his relationship with girlfriend Trinity Rodman comes with some hurdles.
“It is really difficult,” Shelton, 23, exclusively told Us while promoting his partnership with Thorne. “I think what a lot of people don’t see is when we actually do have time or a couple of days off, we’re so exhausted that it’s tough to do anything. It is tough to make time.”
Shelton and Rodman, 24, a forward for the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League, went public with their relationship in March 2025.
“Sometimes I leave these tournaments and I’m a bit of a zombie,” Shelton admitted. “I’m not the most fun person to be around. But we make a lot of sacrifices for our sport. I’d say both of us are chasing things for our sport. We’re not where we want to be yet, we’re not in our primes. So this is kind of crunch time.”

He continued, “This is going to be the hardest, most grueling time in our relationship, from my perspective. None of it is easy. But being able to have someone to lean on who’s such an elite athlete and doing things at a really high level as well, it helps in so many ways.”
Rodman was along for every step of Shelton’s US Open journey in New York, which came in the thick of her NWSL schedule — which means she racked up the frequent flyer miles.
“She grinded a ridiculous amount to show up for me,” Shelton gushed. “She must have flown back and forth six or seven times during the tournament. Probably more, I’m probably under-shooting it. But it was so cool to share so many of those memories together with my whole family, also with her.”

Throughout it all, Shelton has also been able to rely on Thorne and their line of clinically-backed supplements and daily essentials.

There’s so many things that aren’t easy. Keeping a schedule of like, ‘OK, I have to pack for three months, I need to have all of my supplements ready,’ makes you able to navigate it.”
