Halle Berry just turned 60, and she’s never felt more at peace with where she’s at.
The Oscar-winning actress, who celebrated her 60th birthday in August, shared her thoughts on aging during Create & Cultivate’s “On Her Own Terms: Halle Berry on Menopause, Aging & Women’s Health” event in Los Angeles on September 20.
“I think as I’m aging, I’m learning that confidence just grows. It grows. You become more of yourself,” Berry told moderator Jaclyn Johnson.
Getting older has given the Catwoman star a different outlook, including caring less about how other people perceive her.
“And that’s why I say this time of life, whenever I’m talking to women, I tell them, this is going to be your best chapter,” Berry said, jokingly calling it her “I have zero f**** to give” phase.
Berry said she’s become more sure of herself over the years, but she’s always been comfortable doing things her own way.
“I think I’ve always had the ability to walk in my own shoes and walk my own path,” she explained. “I’ve never really been a follower. I’ve never tried to keep up with anybody. I’ve realized I’ve always been in my own race.”
Since turning 60, Berry has become better at standing her ground and saying no when she needs to.
“I have no more guilt about it,” she added. “I do it at will, and I tell my family that all the time. ‘No, I’m not doing that. How about you do that for yourself?’”
The actress sees saying no and setting boundaries as an important part of caring for herself. “You learn how to say no with no guilt,” Berry said. “You can say no with love because you’re choosing to love yourself.”

As for what’s next for Berry, she’s taking on the lead role in Fleur, about a woman who leaves her marriage behind for Paris and starts a new life as an elite escort.
Berry, who is also producing the film, said she sees some of herself in the character. “I relate to a woman who made that choice, putting everybody before herself, and now what’s left for her?” she noted.
When Berry looked back on raising her children, she admitted she didn’t always get it right.
“I kept my career while I had kids and it was a juggling act. I missed big moments with them. But I’ve also been the breadwinner of my family … So I’ve had to take care of all of us and sometimes I’ve been resentful of that,” she explained.
“But at the same time I’m grateful I held on to my career because when they’re gone, I’m still gonna have me.”
