ROCHESTER, N.Y. — ESL Ballpark is holding a celebration on Monday evening of the Rochester Red Wings’ far run in the postseason.
The Red Wings won their first International League title in 29 years last Thursday, after a thrilling game three in their series against the Memphis Redbirds. That earned the team a spot in the Triple-A National Championship in Las Vegas, played in a single game rather than a series, where they fell to the Oklahoma City Comets in 10 innings on Saturday.
The celebration begins at 6 p.m. It will feature live music, $2 beers, $2 hot dogs, and 20% off purchases in the team store. In addition, fans can take photographs with the championship trophy and championship flag.
This marks the Red Wings’ 20th International League title. The team played its entire postseason on the road, but fans gathered at ESL Ballpark for watch parties during all three games in the series. The national championship game was tied 2-2 after the ninth inning, but the Comets scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning, while the Red Wings only scored one in the bottom inning, making the final score 5-3.
