ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Four people were hurt after a fight and shooting on Dewey Avenue in Rochester on Sunday night.
Rochester police said officers responded to the 600 block of Dewey Avenue at about 8:37 p.m. for a report of shots fired. Police found that a group argument had escalated into a fight, during which two people were cut with knives.
Police said an unknown man then arrived and began shooting into the group, hitting two people. The shooter ran away from the scene.
Both stabbing victims were taken by personal vehicle to Rochester General Hospital before police arrived, officials said. The two shooting victims, who were still at the scene when officers got there, were taken to Strong Hospital.
Police said all injuries are non-life threatening. The shooting victims are a 14-year-old girl and a 36-year-old woman, both city residents, who were hurt in the lower body.
The stabbing victims are a 25-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman, both city residents, who were hurt in the upper body. Police said one of these victims may have also been hurt by gunfire.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
