Evan Summers of Williamsport, Pennsylvania has announced his verbal commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at NC State. He flips his commitment after previously committing to Virginia Tech earlier this spring.

Summers swims for the Nittany Lion Aquatic Club and Williamsport Area Senior High School. He is a “Best of the Rest” ranked recruit for the boys high school class of 2027.
He finished his summer season at U.S. Nationals where he was highlighted by 20th place finishes in both the 50 (28.22) and 100 (1:01.99) breaststrokes. Both times than his lifetime bests coming into the meet, although he was slightly faster with a 28.07 50 breast in prelims.
Back in March, he swam to a Pennsylvania High School 3A runner up finish with a 54.25 100 breast. He was faster in prelims with a lifetime best 53.77. He dropped over a second in the event in the last year as he came into the season with a lifetime best 55.03 from the 2025 PIAA 3A Championships.
Summers’ Best SCY Times Are:
100 Breaststroke: 53.77 200 Breaststroke: 1:59.23The NC State men finished 3rd out of 15 teams at the 2026 ACC Championships and went on to finish 6th at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Quintin McCarty led the team at NCAAs with 37 individual points including helping the team’s 400 free relay to a 2nd place finish.
Based on his best times, Summers is less than a second off what it took to score at the conference level as it took a 52.95 100 breast. NC State had no finalists in the event as Arsen Kozhakhmetov was the top finisher with a 35.05 for 26th.
Summers will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with fellow BOTR ranked recruit Seth Morgan and Honorable Mention ranked recruit Thomas McMillan. Also in the class is Max Laine and Charlie Camplin.
