A 26-year-old man has died after he was chased by a pair of armed suspects and shot during an altercation in Grand Crossing Friday.
According to Chicago police, the victim was standing near his car in the 7500 block of South Cottage Grove at approximately 7 p.m. Friday when two individuals in a black sedan approached him.
One of those individuals opened fire, and the victim got into his car and attempted to drive away from the scene, police said.
The driver of the black sedan continued to pursue him, and the other suspect continued to fire shots, striking the victim in the back and in the knee, according to police. The victim’s car then swerved and struck a pole, with the suspects fleeing the scene in the black sedan.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No suspects are in custody, and Area Two detectives are investigating the attack.
