2026 Sam Kendricks Dust Off Your Boots Invitational
September 25, 2026 Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center, Austin, Texas 25 yards (Short Course Yards), Intrasquad Meet Results (PDF)While the eyes of the college swimming fandom turned to the College Swimming League this weekend, The University of Texas Longhorns, including the defending national champion men’s team, kicked their season off with the Sam Kendricks Dust Off Your Boots Invitational.
Freshman Laon Kim, a Canadian wunderkind making his collegiate debut at the meet, won a pair of individual events to kick off his career. First he won the 200 free in 1:35.01, placing ahead of Texas post-grads and Olympians Chris Guiliano (1:35.58) and Luke Hobson (1:36.74).
He then won the 100 free in 43.44, beating out sophomore teammate Rafael Fente-Damers (43.79), and again the postgrads Guiliano (43.81) and Hobson (44.89).
Kim added a 3rd place finish in the 100 fly (48.66) and anchored the winning 400 free relay with a 42.78 split to wrap up his debut.
The meet won’t count for official NCAA results with post-grads being allowed to compete, but is still a successful test in Kim’s first yards meet.
Among the other highlights on the men’s side were the breaststroke battles between the program’s incumbents Campbell McKean, and Nate Germonprez, and All-American transfer Luka Mladenovic, who arrived from the University of Michigan this season.
In the 100, Campbell won in 53.20, followed by Mladenovic (53.38) and Germonprez (54.39).
In the 200, Mladenovic came out on top in 1:57.82, followed by McKean in 1:57.88. No other Longhorn swam faster than two minutes.
Other Highlight Swims on the Men’s Side:
Post-grad Jack Wilkening, who in the spring finished his collegiate career at Michigan, won the 100 back in 46.75 – half-a-second ahead of the 2026 NCAA Champion Hubert Kos, also in the camp of the post-grads. Kos dominated the 200 back in 1:43.76 ahead of another post-grad Jack Aikins (1:49.67). Texas’ sprint questions still linger – none of their varsity men swam under 20 seconds in the 50 free. Guiliano won the event in 19.85, followed by Fente-Damers in 20.08.In the women’s meet, another Austin newcomer put on a show. Freshman Audrey Derivaux, who graduated high school early to arrive at Texas this fall, won the 200 fly in 1:55.91 and the 200 back in 1:54.41.
She also split 23.68 on the butterfly leg of the runner-up 200 medley relay. That means she outsplit that relays’ incumbent leg Campbell Stoll, who split 23.78.
Those two will spend a lot of time training together this season: Stoll is the defending NCAA Champion in the 200 fly, though she didn’t swim it at this meet.
Also new to that butterfly group is Mena Boardman, who won the 100 fly on Friday in 53.11.
Piper Enge, who finished 5th in the 100 breaststroke at NCAAs last year, won the 100 breaststroke on Friday in 1:00.28 and the 200 in 2:15.07.
Enge started off the season fast at last year’s intrasquad as well, where they swam 59.82 in the 100.
The Longhorns flexed their depth in the 200 free, with a trio of 1:45s from undergrads. Erin Gemmell won in 1:45.36, Lillian Nesty was 2nd in 1:45.85, and Nikolett Padar finished 3rd in 1:45.89.
Texas next races on October 9 in a tri meet against Indiana and Northwestern in Bloomington.
