The last weekend of summer in the Chicago area was a washout, but the first weekend of fall will be “beautiful.”
“It’s going to be beautiful all weekend long,” NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack said.
Friday morning started out cloudy, Sack said, with some sprinkles possible at times By 3 p.m., more sunshine was expected, with temperatures topping out in the upper 60s.
Quiet weather was expected Friday night into Saturday morning, though it will be a cool start, with temperatures in the 50s. During the daytime, temperatures will rise into the mid-to-upper 60s, Sack said, with even warmer temperatures in the low 70s by Sunday.
“As you can see, a beautiful weekend headed our way,” Sack said.
That won’t be the case on the East Coast, as a rare September Nor’easter was expected to bring heavy rain and gusty winds to multiple states.
“It’s going to be a mess around the East Coast,” Sack said. “But here? Beautiful.”
Monday and Tuesday will remain in the low 70s, with the next chance for rain Wednesday and Thursday.
“Some of this could be remnants of Hurricane Polo,” Sack said. As of Friday morning, the hurricane, off the Pacific coast of Mexico, had intensified into a Category 5 storm.
