With the first overall pick in the NLL draft, the Rochester Knighthawks add Finn Thompson, a forward out of Syracuse University.
Thompson was a four-year starter with the Orange, tallying 58 points this past Spring.
“Being selected first overall by the Knighthawks is an incredible honor,” said Thomson via the Rochester Knighthawks. “Rochester is an awesome organization with great coaches, and it’s been one of my favorite teams since I was a kid. Playing in this league has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to put on a Knighthawks jersey and compete with the team.”
The Knighthawks went 6-12 last season, parting ways with long-time head coach Mike Hasen after a 5-6 start. After interim head coach Randy Mearns went 1-6, the team hired Troy Cordingley to be its next bench boss.
“His box lacrosse experience was significant for us. We like his vision. He’s a smart lacrosse player,” Cordingley said. “We want to be a team that is going to, play hard for 60 minutes. And we feel that he’s got the tools and the, the character to to fit in.”
