Former Home Improvement star Jonathan Taylor Thomas has been detained. He was a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over.
TMZ reports that the arrest happened on Monday, Sept. 21 at 12:30 a.m. That night, police pulled over a vehicle in Westlake Village, California, where the ‘90s child star was a passenger.
Police shared that he exited the vehicle, despite being told to stay inside. He was drunk in public, and as authorities went to arrest him, he resisted. He was then detained at the Malibu/Lost Hill Sheriff Station before being released shortly after.
A spokesperson went on the record, sharing, “During the investigation, [Jonathan] stepped out of the vehicle and became uncooperative and resistant, and was subsequently arrested for [being] drunk in public.”
Jail records note that he was booked on suspicion of felony obstruction/resisting an executive officer. Meanwhile, the unnamed driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving under the influence.

Thomas was a staple on TV throughout the ‘90s. He initially appeared in commercials, but once he landed the role of Randy Taylor on Home Improvement, his star power increased. He then voiced Young Simba in The Lion King and appeared in a small number of productions before stepping out of the limelight so that he could focus on his studies. He did return in 2015 to reprise his role from Home Improvement on Last Man Standing, which starred his on-screen dad, Tim Allen.
The most recent spotting of Thomas was via an Instagram post shared by Patricia Richardson, who played his on-screen mother, in August. She had the caption “My other boys,” highlighting that Taran Noah Smith, who played the third brother, Mark, was also there.
Thomas is the second of the Taylor children to be arrested. Zachery Ty Bryan, who played the elder brother, is currently in jail. He was charged with “felony DUI and a misdemeanor for alleged contempt of court.”
