Jack Nicholson‘s lookalike grandson, Duke Nicholson, just hit the red carpet with his soon-to-be wife, Devon Lee Carlson.
Duke, 27, is the grandson of Jack, who is known for iconic films ranging from Batman and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest to Terms of Endearment and As Good As It Gets. While the acting icon doesn’t appear on the big screen as much as he used to, Duke is following in his grandfather’s footsteps. Duke just hit the Los Angeles special screening of his new film, The Deputy, at Landmark Theaters Sunset. One look at his smile is a dead giveaway to who his famous grandfather is!

What is The Deputy About?
Duke stars in the film as “a young sheriff’s deputy [who] finds himself in the crosshairs of dangerous criminals when the dead body he is assigned to keep an eye on disappears from a crime scene,” according to the official logline. Also starring Julia Fox and William H. Macy, the film is directed by Matt Sukkar.
Nicholson opened up to PEOPLE about his character, saying, “Toby is messy, flawed and completely in over his head, but he has a good heart, and that’s what drew me to him.”

Duke has shared that one of the best lessons his grandfather taught him was the importance of developing your own material.
“Writing, creating projects with friends, being part of the process. He’s always been more than an actor; he’s a writer and director, too. That advice has been inspiring to me. I never want to just rely on self-tapes to feel creatively fulfilled,” Duke told The Hollywood Reporter in 2025.
When asked if he looks to his grandfather’s work for inspiration, Duke said that’s a definite.
“I’ve seen almost all his films. I mean, he’s incredible. The one that resonates with me most is The Passenger, the [Michelangelo] Antonioni film. His performance and the filmmaking in that are just amazing. The first movie I ever saw him in, though, was Anger Management with Adam Sandler — still arguably the greatest movie he’s ever made. (Laughs.) But yeah, I go up and visit him a lot, and we’re pretty close. You know, he’s just the best.
