Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent is in the NFL’s concussion protocol and could potentially miss next week’s game, a new report says.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Bagent is dealing with a concussion and will have to pass protocol checks in order to play on Monday against the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field.
With Caleb Williams already likely missing the game due to a hamstring injury, the Bears could be forced to start Case Keenum at quarterback against the Eagles.
Bagent dealt with a back injury the first week of the season, then was forced to come into Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings after Williams suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter.
Bagent went 5-of-9 for 54 yards for the Bears, and was sacked once in the contest as he finished out a 9-3 loss to the Vikings.
In his NFL career Bagent has made four starts for the Bears and 13 appearances overall, throwing for 971 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions on 158 attempts. All four of his starts came in his rookie season in 2023.
Keenum has not appeared in an NFL game since the 2023 season, and has appeared in 80 games during his NFL career, throwing for 15,175 yards, 79 touchdowns and 51 interceptions.
If Bagent and Williams are both out, then undrafted free agent Miller Moss, who is currently on the Bears’ practice squad, could be in line to serve as a backup quarterback. In his final collegiate season at Louisville, Moss threw for 2,679 yards and 16 touchdowns, along with seven interceptions.
The Bears will release their first injury report of the week on Thursday as they prepare to take on the Eagles on Monday night, with kickoff set for 7:15 p.m.
