ROCHESTER, N.Y. — U.S. News & World Report has released its 2026 rankings for higher education, and many Rochester-area universities ranked high on the list.
For best national universities – schools with undergraduate and master’s or Ph.D. programs – the University of Rochester ranked 49th. In addition, the Rochester Institute of Technology ranked 95th, the fourth year that it has placed in the top 100 list.
For best public universities – schools that operate through state supervision – SUNY Geneseo ranked near the top, placing 5th. In addition, SUNY Brockport ranked 20th.
For best value schools – which takes into account academic quality and tuition cost – St. John Fisher University ranked near the top, placing 11th. In addition, URochester placed 30th for best value, Nazareth University placed 33rd, SUNY Brockport placed 61st, and SUNY Geneseo placed 96th.
