Still, bosun Nathan Gallagher’s exchange with deckhand Joe Bradley during the final minute of the episode takes on a decidedly darker tone when Gallagher warns, “I can turn that smirk into a frown really fast,” especially in light of his recent legal troubles.
There was little chance Joe and Nathan were going to avoid an argument after Nathan’s then-girlfriend, Gael Cameron, joined the crew for dinner that evening. But when tensions boiled over, Gael’s plea for Joe to stop making the situation so uncomfortable only seemed to escalate things. Joe appeared insulted by her attempt to ease the tension, laughing and telling Nathan that her remarks were “so crazy”—a reaction that clearly struck a nerve with Nathan.
That’s when Joe challenged Nathan after his comment: “What, because you’re going to f—king come at me?” Joe continued laughing as the episode came to an end, leaving viewers without an answer as to whether the confrontation would end there or escalate further.
Nathan’s remark feels particularly ominous in light of the legal troubles that have emerged since the season was filmed. Nathan faces a case in Ireland stemming from a 2022 incident in which he was charged with assault causing harm after allegedly attacking another man; an Irish court issued a bench warrant after he failed to appear.
More recently, Nathan and Gael, who share a young son, split following a December 2025 incident in Australia that led to Nathan’s arrest on domestic-violence-related charges. In September, an Australian court convicted Nathan in his absence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and intentionally choking a person without consent after he failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
According to police documents cited by The New York Times and Rolling Stone, Nathan covered Gael’s mouth and nose with his hand, restricting her ability to breathe, before placing both hands around her neck and applying pressure. The documents also state that he later grabbed her by the neck and lifted her while applying force.
Nathan has disputed the public account of the incident, telling Rolling Stone that what has been reported represents “only one side” of what he described as an “extremely complicated situation.”
After Nathan failed to appear in court, Australian authorities issued an arrest warrant and said he was believed to be offshore, asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact police and warning the public not to approach him. Nathan has not been located. Bravo subsequently confirmed that it “does not plan on working with Nathan in the future.”
