Born on September 21, 1947, in Gainesville, Florida, Felder fell in love with music from a very early age. Felder served as lead guitarist for the chart-dominating band from January 1974 to 2001. Throughout his tenure with the group, he was featured on and credited with several major smash hits, most notably composing the iconic instrumental backing track for “Hotel California”—which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100—as well as co-writing “Victim of Love” and “Those Shoes.”
Aside from his work with the acclaimed band, the guitarist has also branched out into solo projects. During the Eagles’ ’80s hiatus and following his departure in 2001, Felder released three solo records: Airborne (1983), Road to Forever (2012) and American Rock ‘n’ Roll (2019).
Throughout his five-decade career, the guitarist has achieved numerous notable accolades, winning four Grammy Awards out of 12 nominations for his work with The Eagles. In 1998, Felder was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his massive contributions to rock music.
To this day, Felder remains a true pillar of the rock genre. His dual-guitar harmonies and intricate solos with The Eagles are widely considered some of the most groundbreaking guitar work in classic rock history, cementing his legacy as a timeless musical innovator.
