Though he may not be able to compete at the Asian Games due to his European representation, Leon Marchand still found his way to partake in the festivities by leading a swim clinic at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center a day before the competition began.
Marchand, joined at the clinic by three-time US Olympic Gold medalist Anthony Ervin, spent about a half hour with local schoolchildren, answering questions, signing autographs, and getting in the water for a brief stroke clinic.
World Aquatics shared several pictures from the clinic on its Instagram.

In addition to spending time with local youth, Marchand is also on deck at the Asian Games in Tokyo, where he is an awards presenter, handing out medals to several top-performing athletes.
Another prominent athlete at the Asian Games is legendary FC Barcelona soccer player Carles Puyol, who is helping promote teqball, best described as a cross between soccer and table tennis, and is being competed at the Asian Games for the first time. Throughout the week, Puyol will be around the visit and will also visit with local schoolchildren, similar to Marchand.
