They stated, “After careful consideration and advice from medical professionals, Papa Roach bassist Tobin Esperance will be unable to perform this weekend due to an unexpected emergency. Therefore, we will not be able to perform at this year’s Louder Than Life festival and wish everyone the best. Right now, Tobin’s health is our immediate concern. We look forward to welcoming him back on stage in November and appreciate the continued support and respect for his privacy during this time.”
According to Billboard, this was the band’s last show scheduled in America before crossing the Atlantic. The outlet continued, “Assuming Esperance recovers on schedule, the band picks back up Nov. 1 for its Rise of the Roach tour, opening at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro and moving through Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester, London and Cardiff before a run of mainland European dates that wraps Dec. 6 in Lyon.”

In an interview with The Upcoming, Esperance spoke about how much he enjoys performing. “When I get on stage… I just like the idea that people have their nine-to-five jobs or their thing that they do all day, and then there is this, ‘Man, I want to go out tonight and just let loose,’ you know? It is like the last tribal experience where people just get together, and kind of lay out all their naked emotions onto the table for everyone to admire, or laugh at, or whatever it is. They just dance around in a circle, [they can] just be like ‘Wooooo!’ That’s what is so cool – that people still want to come out to a live show and let loose, and we are like the soundtrack to that.”
Louder Than Life is a four-day festival that includes over 200 acts. Some other popular bands scheduled for this year were My Chemical Romance, Iron Maiden, Tool, and Limp Bizkit.
