VAN BUREN, N.Y. — On Thursday, around 9:30 a.m., New York State Police went to a jackknifed tractor-trailer on I-90 in Onondaga County, which led to a three-car crash.
Police say Steven Garpue Nauhn from Rochester, 38, was driving through an active work zone in the westbound lane on I-90 when he lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier. The impact caused the barrier to be pushed into the eastbound side of the highway, police explained.
With the barrier pushed into the eastbound lane, it led to three cars becoming involved in a chain-reaction crash when the drivers attempted to avoid the barrier, according to police.
Nauhn and one other driver were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, police said.
The investigation found that speeding may’ve been a factor, and Nauhn was given traffic tickets. He will go to Van Buren Town Court at a future date.
