If anyone knows these 2 programs well, it’s former Alabama head coach Nick Saban. The 7-time national champion joined the Pat McAfee show on Friday morning to discuss the matchup, and he said that he’s been impressed with what he’s seen from the Gators so far.
“I’ve been really impressed with Florida,” Saban said. “I mean, they can run the ball; Aaron (Philo) has played really well at quarterback for them, and they’ve got some good receivers. I think that Jon Sumrall probably inherited a little better roster and added to it at Florida in terms of the kind of defense they can play. So, I think that Florida is a little bit further along as a team just based on the first 2 weeks of the season.”

There’s no denying the Gators have looked more impressive than the Tigers early on, even if it’s been against lesser competition. That being said, Auburn has been more battle-tested and has a much better win against a very solid Baylor squad in Week 1.
