Plainfield police are asking residents to avoid a portion of the community after a “major incident” Thursday night.
According to a pair of alerts issued by police, residents are being asked to avoid 127th Street between Naper-Plainfield Road and Route 59 amid the response to the incident.
It was not immediately clear what took place in the area, but police did say in a Facebook post shortly after 7:30 p.m. there was no imminent threat to the public.
The roadway is expected to remain closed for the time being, with residents being asked to seek out alternate routes through the area.
