Shane Beamer held out Dylan Stewart and Jacarrius Peak for the first two games of South Carolina‘s season as the star edge rusher and transfer offensive lineman battled back from injury.
The wait, though, looks set to end against Mississippi State.
Beamer, who has targeted Week 3’s game against the Bulldogs for Stewart and Peak, said on Thursday’s “Carolina Calls” that both players “had a good week of practice” and should be available to play on Saturday.
Other players on the injury list for South Carolina include reserve quarterback Lucian Anderson, but, per Beamer, he’ll only be sidelined against the Bulldogs. Defensive back Jalewis Solomon won’t play, either.
Peak and Stewart have had a good week of practice. Barring any setbacks tomorrow, expect to see them on the field Saturday. t.co/eXyWhpBx4n
— David Cloninger (@DCPandC) September 17, 2026The Gamecocks are off to a red-hot start in 2026, putting up 57 points against Kent State and 45 against FCS Towson. Granted, those aren’t exactly giants of the sport, but it’s a good first impression for the offense under first-year coordinator Kendal Briles.
But the challenge will come in SEC play. The Gamecocks should be favored to defeat the Bulldogs at home. After that, though, is a trip to face Alabama, followed by a return home to take on Kentucky. After that, South Carolina heads to Florida on Oct. 10, the final game before an open week.
