The ACC has announced the nine conference opponents for UNC’s 2027 football season. As part of the league’s scheduling model, 16 of the 17 league members will play nine ACC games, while only Clemson will play eight (the Tigers are scheduled to face Notre Dame in 2027). The structure ensures that every league member will play a minimum of 10 games each year against Power Four competition.
In conference play, UNC will host Duke, Florida State, Virginia and Virginia Tech. On the road, the Tar Heels will visit Louisville, NC State, Stanford, Syracuse and Wake Forest.

The 2027 visit will be the Florida State’s first to Chapel Hill since 2021, while Virginia Tech will visit for the first time since 2022. Duke and Virginia played in Kenan Stadium in 2025.
The Tar Heels played each of NC State, Syracuse and Wake Forest on the road in 2025, but the visits to Stanford and Louisville are a long time coming. Carolina’s visits there will be its first as an ACC foe — despite Louisville joining the league in 2014. In fact, the Tar Heels and Cardinals have only faced off once as conference opponents, when Lamar Jackson’s Louisville team won in Chapel Hill in 2017. UNC’s last visit to Louisville came in 2012, and its last win against the Cardinals came in 2011.
As for Stanford, UNC will make its first trip out to “The Farm” since 1998. That game, won 37-34 by the Cardinal, is the only of the four all-time meetings between the two schools played at Stanford. Overall, the two teams are tied 2-2, with Carolina winning the last meeting in Kenan Stadium in 2025.
No dates have been finalized for any of UNC’s ACC games. There are, however, set dates for the Tar Heels’ three non-conference fixtures in 2027. Carolina is scheduled to open the season at home against UCF Saturday, Sep. 4. UConn will visit Kenan Stadium Sep. 18, followed by a visit from FCS North Alabama Sep. 25. The Tar Heels had previously scheduled a road game at Purdue for Sep. 11, but a program spokesman confirmed to Chapelboro the game against the Boilermakers has been moved to 2032. As part of the home-and-home agreement, UNC will host Purdue in 2031.
