A fast-moving wildfire near Interstate 80 in Nevada County has grown to about 20 acres Wednesday morning, prompting an evacuation warning as crews rush to contain it.
The Floriston Fire is burning near I-80 and Floriston Way, about nine miles northeast of Truckee, Cal Fire officials said.
Fire officials said the flames were threatening I-80, the Truckee watershed and nearby natural resources. Additional aircraft and ground crews have been requested to help fight the fire.
The Nevada County Sheriff's Office issued an evacuation warning for Zone NCO-379 shortly before 11 a.m.
People who need additional time to evacuate, along with those with pets or livestock, should consider leaving now, sheriff's officials said.
An evacuation warning means residents should be prepared to leave if conditions worsen. No evacuation order has been announced.
