He served as a coaching intern on the New Orleans Pelicans before working his way up to an assistant coach gig. He also assumed that position with the Phoenix Suns before working under his dad with the Atlanta Hawks. He was the head coach for the Detroit Pistons’ NBAGL affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, and also served as an assistant coach and player development coach for Detroit for both Monty Williams and J.B. Bickerstaff.
Jordan Brink
Brink will serve as both an assistant coach and a director of player development. He worked alongside McMillan in Detroit, having been both a video coordinator and eventually an assistant coach and player development coach from 2015-23. Brink, too, was a decorated collegiate star, as a Division III All-American at Calvin University.
Most notably, Brink was on Mike Brown’s staff during his very, very successful 2025-26 debut season with the New York Knicks. New York ended its 53-year title drought in June by pasting the San Antonio Spurs 4-1 in the NBA Finals. We touched on the Brink poaching a bit when it was initially reported last month.

The longtime defense-first Bulls big man became essentially an unofficial player-coach starting with his 2022-23 season on the Washington Wizards. Gibson occupied the kind of role previously explored by post-prime players like Udonis Haslem on the Miami Heat and Brian Scalabrine on the Bulls and Boston Celtics. A beloved teammate pretty much everywhere, Gibson helped improve the games of Jalen Duren, Moussa Diabaté, and Mitchell Robinson during this minimum-salaried phase, ultimately milking four more seasons of action beyond his last significant rotational year.
Now, he’ll bring his “Hard Hat, Lunch Pail” work ethic back where it all started under Tiago Splitter.
