A high school teacher in Richardson, Texas, was arrested after he allegedly solicited a minor online after meeting on the popular dating app Grindr.
The Richardson Police Department learned of the allegations against Berkner High School teacher Michael Ralph Fouse when the department received a tip in August from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to Fox 4 News.
Detectives questioned Fouse, 41, and searched his home before he was arrested on August 28. Fouse has since been charged with the online solicitation of a minor. He was booked into the city’s jail and was held on a $20,000 bond.
The NCMEC flagged a conversation that Fouse had on Grindr with an individual who claimed to be a 16-year-old male who lived in the same apartment complex as the teacher, according to an arrest warrant affidavit viewed by the outlet.

“Detectives noted the conversation between the two parties was sexually explicit in nature and the suspect was attempting to meet the 16-year-old victim,” the affidavit stated. “On multiple occasions the suspect commented on the age of the victim and still communicated in a sexual manner and attempted to convince the victim to come to his apartment for sex.”
While it has not been confirmed that Fouse met the victim in person, detectives said that they exchanged explicit photos.
While speaking to the detectives, Fouse admitted he invited the teen over despite knowing it was a “bad choice.” He also denied having any sort of relationship with any of his students.
As soon as an investigation was launched into the allegations, the Richardson ISD confirmed that Fouse had been placed on administrative leave.
“The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. Any conduct that could compromise student safety is unacceptable, and the district takes allegations of this nature extremely seriously,” the school district said in a statement, per the outlet.

The district also said that they will continue to cooperate with police amid the investigation and they will take action once the findings of the investigation are revealed.
It is not currently clear if Fouse has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following his arrest. The Richardson Police Department did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment regarding the case.
