Primary Wave Music, in collaboration with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston, created a 45-minute tribute show that featured her greatest hits and the story of her incredible life.
Houston, whose accomplishments included selling more than 220 million records worldwide, winning six Grammys, and holding seven successive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits, was one of the world’s most famous and respected artists until her tragic death on February 11, 2012.
Norwegian Aura debuts in 2027Norwegian Cruise Line
The show, which will be held in a three-story theater (Aura Theatre & Club), will feature stagecraft and storytelling alongside fresh, contemporary takes on Houston’s classic songs.
In addition to “I Will Always Love You,” which is one of the best-selling singles of all time, fans can expect to hear favorites like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “It’s Not Right, But It’s OK.”
The tribute is uniquely fitting because of Houston’s love of cruises. Speaking to Cruise Hive, Pat Houston, executor of The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and president of the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, shared, “Whitney enjoyed cruises. Her fans and supporters will have a nostalgic experience enjoying the extraordinary artistry and live music of Whitney Houston, performed by worldclass musicians while sailing on the high seas.”
The Norwegian Aura is Norwegian Cruise Line’s fifth Prima-class ship. Its other Prima-class ships have hosted similar tribute shows, including “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince” on the Norwegian Aqua and “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John” on the Norwegian Luna. “Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston” will no doubt join these ranks as a successful show for Norwegian guests to enjoy.
