Deputies: 2 in Livingston County accused of having quantity of meth

NUNDA, N.Y. — Two people in Livingston County are facing charges after deputies say they had meth, and one of them violated an order of protection.

Deputies say on Sept. 11, they responded to the area of State Route 436 in the Town of Nunda for the reported in-progress violation of an order of protection. Deputies stopped a car on Route 436 and made contact with the driver, Meghan Soto, 43. The passenger in the car was identified as John Kennedy, 37.

    During the stop, deputies say they learned there was a complete stay away order of protection in place against Kennedy, with Soto being the protected party. They say they also believed there was drug activity in the car and investigated.

    As a result, Soto and Kennedy were found with a quantity of meth. Both were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in third and fourth degrees, and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

    Additionally, Kennedy was charged with misdemeanor criminal contempt, and Soto was charged with vehicle and traffic law violations.

    Both were released on their own recognizance after processing.
