The India National Cricket Team is currently playing the Afghanistan National Cricket Team in the second T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. However, Kuldeep Yadav, who is not part of the T20I squad, has recently shared his insights on playing in county cricket and also broke his silence on being dropped from the Test side after one bad performance.
Kuldeep Yadav was last seen playing for India during the 1st Test against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. He did not have the best of the match and was thus dropped from the playing XI. Later on, he went on to play county cricket, where he got his career-best spell by picking up 10 wickets in a match.
Kuldeep Yadav had an exclusive interview with talkSPORT Cricket, where he shared his feelings after being dropped from the Test playing XI. He felt bad any player would feel after being dropped from the playing XI. He believes that whenever he is in the team, he wants to play, but he took a swipe at management while mentioning that it does not happen every time.
"Sometimes you just have to go with the team combination or strategy, unfortunately or fortunately. Definitely you feel bad for yourself when you’re not playing, when you’re not part of the playing XI," Kuldeep told talkSPORT.
"You want to play because when you are in the squad you want to play, but sometimes it doesn’t happen because of whatever the management thinks… Last year, I was hoping to get a chance in a few games, but it’s okay. Maybe next time," he said.
Kuldeep Yadav shares experience on playing County cricket
Apart from speaking about being dropped, Kuldeep Yadav shared his insights on playing in County cricket. He revealed that the batters and the spinners at the County Championship are very good and have quality. He also revealed that the conditions here are very tough, with seam movement and swing in England, and some pitches are also dry.
"I personally feel it’s (English county experience) very good for batters and spinners. Obviously, you will see seaming conditions here and there, but you play here to get used to the challenges you face. You’re not going to face them back home because you grew up playing there and you know the conditions pretty well," he said.
"So you come here and face different challenges, different conditions. Some pitches are very dry here; if you go to the south side, you’ll feel that there’s a dryness in the wicket. When you come (a) bit north, like Yorkshire, you’ll see a bit of cold," he added.
Kuldeep Yadav's recent form
Kuldeep delivered a brilliant career-best performance for Yorkshire in the County Championship against Essex at Headingley, claiming his maiden first-class ten-wicket match haul. He finished with career-best match figures of 10 for 120, steering Yorkshire to a crushing victory by an innings and 106 runs.
During the Sri Lanka tour, he could only pick up one wicket in two innings and was counterattacked by the Lankan batters, and was the only weak link to India’s bowling in the first Test.
