Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has signed an agreement with Arab Contractors to construct a fishing port in the Wilayat of Mahout within the Al Wusta Governorate.
The initiative aims to bolster the development of the fisheries sector and investment into the region.
The scope of work encompasses the construction of 2-breakwaters, each spanning a combined length of 3.02km. Land reclamation will cover an area of 1.2m sqm, and dredging of the port basin will be over an area of 688,116 sqm, with a target depth of up to 4m. These details were reported by ONA.
Furthermore, the project will include the development of 4.5km of roads and parking areas, as well as the establishment of electricity, lighting, water, firefighting and sewage networks.
The agreement was formally signed by Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Saud Hamoud Al Habsi and Arab Contractors Chairman Ahmed Mustafa Al Assar.
