The sinker was 97 mph, so it was all heat from Tolle. The lefty struck out seven over six shutout frames. It was Tolle’s second straight quality start after he failed to complete six innings in his final three outings of August.
3. Vlad goes deep in Toronto
It took almost the entire year, but Blue Jays fans finally got to see a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. home run at Rogers Centre. The first baseman tagged Orioles lefty Trevor Rogers for a solo shot in the fifth inning. It was the second of three consecutive homers by Toronto. George Springer homered ahead of Guerrero, and Kazuma Okamoto followed him with a blast. Guerrero’s power has taken a huge step back this season. He has just nine home runs in 135 games. Guerrero’s .365 SLG is 68 points worse than his previous career low, which came as a rookie in 2019. Guerrero has the ninth-lowest ISO among qualified hitters at .100.
