Joe fights back before her team arrives, leading to an emotional reunion with Cruz Manuelos, played by Laysla De Oliveira.
“I guess I owe you now,” Joe tells her.
“You don’t owe me nothing,” Cruz replies.

Barefoot and seriously injured, Joe is carried onto a helicopter. Her team initially plans to take her directly to Walter Reed for surgery on her nearly severed toe, but she protests.
“I’m going home. I’m gonna see my family,” she insists.
Joe eventually accepts treatment after being warned that an infection could cost her part of her leg. She also learns how fiercely Kyle McManus and the rest of the team fought to locate her.
“I didn’t think I was gonna be found,” she admits.
Nicole Kidman’s Kaitlyn personally tells Joe’s husband, Neal, that his wife survived. Relieved but shaken, Neal asks Kaitlyn to remove Joe from fieldwork. A desk assignment appears possible—until Joe makes a very different decision.
Following surgery, Bobby drives Joe home, but she cannot bring herself to walk through the door. She tells Neal by phone that she will return when the ordeal is “over,” then directs Bobby back toward the office.
“I’m gonna figure out who was behind this,” Joe declares. “Then I’m gonna kill them.”
Saldaña previously told People that Joe’s work “always comes at the cost of putting herself in danger.”
Episode 7 proves that even surviving may not be enough to persuade her to stop.
