ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man was arrested after police said he ran from officers and tossed a bag containing a stolen gun and drugs after police broke up a large group gathering early Saturday morning on North Clinton Avenue.
Around 1:45 a.m., police were monitoring a crowd, later believing that a man within the crowd had a gun, police say.
Officers said they worked to clear the crowd to attempt to speak with Dekesaid Binion, 23, who was on Hoeltzer Street when he ran from officers, police explained. While running away, Binion threw a bag he was previously wearing at officers, and police add that he was later arrested in a backyard on Hoeltzer Street.
Inside the bag, police report that a Colt handgun, suspected cocaine and fentanyl, and a digital scale was found. The gun was reported to have been stolen in Pennsylvania, police said.
Binion was taken to the Monroe County Jail, arraigned in Rochester City Court, and released from custody.
