The Chicago Bears did not hold a full practice at Halas Hall Wednesday, but the team’s first official injury report has been released.
The Bears are getting ready to face the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte on Sunday, and while two of their players would have been limited participants in a workout, backup quarterback Tyson Bagent would not have been on the field as he deals with a back injury.
Bagent played in the Bears’ final preseason game, completing 16-of-17 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans, but he’s been dealing with a back issue as the regular season draws closer.
If Bagent can’t suit up on Sunday, then Case Keenum would serve as the Bears’ backup quarterback behind Caleb Williams.
Two other Bears would have been limited in a workout Wednesday, including wide receiver Rome Odunze, who has been described as “day-to-day” by head coach Ben Johnson as he deals with a calf injury.
Offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, who suffered a torn patellar ligament in his knee during the 2026 playoffs, would also have been limited, a stunning development for a player who has progressed much more quickly through his injury rehab than previously expected.
It’s unclear when Trapilo will be ready for action, but Johnson praised his work ethic before Tuesday’s practice and said the team intends to continue to have him work out in pads to get ready for the campaign.
On the Panthers’ side of the field, starting linebacker Patrick Jones II was out of Wednesday’s workout with a back injury, the team said.
Second-string running back Jonathon Brooks was limited with a groin injury, and starting defensive tackle Bobby Brown III was limited with a back issue.
The teams will each release two more injury reports before the game Sunday, which will kickoff at noon.
