BYRON, N.Y. — Genesee County officials say Route 262 (Townline Road) between Route 19 (South Lake Street) and Route 237 (Byron Holley Road) is closed after a recently applied chip seal treatment didn’t adhere to the roadway properly.
Officials say the condition of the road has caused cars to become stuck and road material to adhere to tires and cars. People are being asked to avoid the area and use other routes until further notice.
The contractor is responding and is working with the County Department of Public Works to assess the roadway and determine the necessary corrective action, the county says.
