Insomniac Games is taking a break from the web slinging to bring us Marvel's Wolverine – but is it coming to PC?
The studio has become famous for its Spider-Man games, all of which launched as PlayStation exclusives before moving to PC later.
So, could the same happen this time around? Here's what you need to know about a potential Marvel's Wolverine PC port.
Will Marvel's Wolverine come to PC?
At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation of Marvel's Wolverine coming to PC.
Now, you might be thinking that while Insomniac hasn't confirmed the game just yet, it's only a matter of time before it is announced – the Spider-Man games came to PC, after all.
Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that anymore, as since Marvel's Spider-Man 2 released on PC early last year, Sony's approach to exclusives has changed somewhat.
As reported by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier back in May, PlayStation studio business CEO Hermen Hulst confirmed to staff that "narrative single-player games" will be full console exclusives going forward.
The first victim of this change was Ghost of Yōtei, which reportedly had its PC port scrapped late into development, while this year's Saros is set to face the same fate.
Combined with Sony's new 'Only on PS5' marketing angle, and it seems safe to say that unless Sony makes a rather surprising 180, that Marvel's Wolverine will not be coming to PC in the future.
That's a pretty big blow to anyone without a PS5 who has been enjoying the first-party PlayStation titles on PC over the last few years – I myself played the Spider-Man games on PC before I got my hands on a PS5 console.
But with Xbox and PlayStation both seemingly reigniting the console wars and looking to keep more and more of their games as console exclusives, it seems the days of going all in on PC gaming and relying on ports may be over.
